BACKFLOW REPAIRS

If your backflow fails the inspection, we'll go over the test results with you and provide you with an estimate for making necessary repairs or corrections.

Backflow occurs when the normal flow of water in your home’s pipes or plumbing system suddenly reverses directions.  If this occurs, the clean water that you drink or shower with can come into contact with used water that may contain chemicals, bacteria and other harmful contaminants.

Backflow occurs when different levels of pressure exist within two different points in a plumbing system, such as water of high pressure flowing to water of low pressure. Backflow typically results from one of two processes: backsiphonage and backpressure.

Without backflow preventers, both non-potable and potable water can be introduced into the drinking water system, which can be dangerous to those who drink or use the water.

Backflow preventers are devices that are installed on your home's water pipes that only allow water to flow in one direction and not the opposite. Their purpose is to prevent drinking water from being contaminated with other sources because of backflow.
Annual backflow testing is required per the Cross Connection Control Ordinance.  The customer, owner, or property manager is responsible for scheduling and payment of the annual backflow test.  Only Town approved backflow testers may test backflow assemblies.
If your backflow fails the inspection, we'll go over the test results with you and provide you with an estimate for making the necessary repairs or corrections.  You are under no obligation to accept our repair quote.  Typically most jurisdictions have a grace period of approximately ten (10) days to correct a failed backflow device.  If Sea Flow Backflow makes the repairs to your backflow device there is no charge for the final testing.
A customer is considered compliant with the Town's Cross Connection Control Ordinance when the backflow tester submits the passing backflow test on your behalf to the electronic reporting system.  The tester is required to submit the test within 10 days of the date of the passing backflow test.
